Hatha Yoga:

Hatha came from the words "ha" which means, "Sun" and "tha" which means, "moon". It is often translated as the branch of Yoga that brings union of the pairs of opposites referring to the positive (sun) and negative (moon) currents in the system. Yoga is ways of achieving union with the inner true Self, the Divine/Universe within. The "union" is applied mind, body, spirit/soul, and emotion becoming center, which help to become a unity.

  • To be able to feel "grounded"
  • Techniques that use in sessions or one-to-one sessions with clients:

    1. Postures/Asanas. They are "physical postures" - a stationary pose in which mind and body are relaxed and composed. They designed to improve health and open the energy channels (chakras) allowing spiritual energy to flow freely.

    2. Breathing Excercises/Pranayamas. The basic breathing exercise is to inhale from your abdomen to chest with a count of 1 to 4, hold for a sec; and exhale slowly with the count of 1 to 8. Two main functions for breathing exercises are intake of oxygen and release of toxins.

    3. Final Relaxation. An asana is corpse pose and it is a three-folded: physical, mental and spiritual relaxation.

    4. Meditation. Techniques together with the asanas and pranayamas can create a balance in the functions of both the left and the right side of the brain, stimulate the entire nervous system, improve circulation, and some even claim of improved memory.
